機械式時計最盛期、1973製のデイデイトです。金無垢とプラチナのみで展開されているデイデイトは、フルスペルで曜日が表示される初のモデルでした。18金無垢のオイスターケースはフルーテッドベゼルの輝きが美しく、重厚感があります。通常よりも幅の広い針とインデックスが採用された「ワイドボーイ」です。針、インデックスともに中央に溝があるデザインが施されており、梨地と鏡面の切り替えが珍しいです。エレガントなドレスウォッチにスポーティテイストが混ざり、迫力のある作品に仕上がっています。6時位置の下部にこの年式ならではの σ T SWISS T σ の表記があるシグマダイヤルは嬉しいポイントです。

ケースは使用傷が少なく、肉厚でプロポーションに優れます。2時のラグ裏のホールマークと18Kの刻印がしっかりと視認できるのがポイントです。ダイヤルはパーフェクトです。高倍率のルーペで除いても気になる点がなく、美しいコンディションで当時のヘアラインをそのままに残しています。針とインデックスは上面の鏡面仕上げが美しく輝きます。ワイドボーイのデイデイトは針が交換されてしまっている個体が多く見られるので、オリジナルの針が付いているのは大切なポイントです。弊社にて分解掃除済みで、パワーリザーブ48時間以上を確認しています。

デイデイトは1956年の発表当時、日付と曜日を表示する世界初の防水性能を備えたクロノメーター自動巻時計でした。ROLEXから35代目アメリカ大統領のアイゼンハワー氏に贈呈されたことを始め、現在でも最高のステータスウォッチとしての地位を確立しています。

This is a 1973 Day-Date, hailing from the golden age of mechanical watches. The Day-Date, available exclusively in solid gold and platinum, was the first model to feature the full-spelling display of the day of the week. The 18-carat solid gold Oyster case boasts a beautiful gleam with its fluted bezel, exuding elegance and substance. It features the "Wide Boy" design with broader hands and indexes than usual. The hands and indexes have a central groove design, with a rare alternating finish between satin and mirror polish. This blend of elegance and sporty flair results in a striking timepiece. The presence of the σ T SWISS T σ marking at the bottom of the 6 o'clock position, unique to this year's model, is a notable feature.

The case exhibits minimal signs of wear and is thick with excellent proportions. The hallmark and 18K stamp on the back of the lug at 2 o'clock are clearly visible, an important detail. The dial is in perfect condition, retaining the original hairline finish without any noticeable flaws even under high magnification. The hands and indexes gleam beautifully with their top surface mirror finish. Given that many Day-Date models with the Wide Boy design have had their hands replaced, the presence of original hands is a crucial point. It has been disassembled and cleaned by our company, confirming a power reserve of over 48 hours.

When the Day-Date was introduced in 1956, it was the world's first waterproof chronometer automatic watch to display both the date and the day of the week. From being presented to the 35th President of the United States, Eisenhower, by Rolex, to its current status as the pinnacle of status watches, the Day-Date has solidified its position as an icon.
