名品Ref.1601の前身機種であるRef.6605は、生産期間が1950年代半ばから1960年頃までと極端に短い、貴重なデイトジャストです。バブルバックの時代が終わり、ムーブメントやデザインが一新しました。ベゼルはフルーテッド初期の刻みの細かいもので、後年のものより、クラシックな印象です。ダイヤルはカッパーカラーに近い色で、パウダーな質感はこの年式ならではです。浮きROLEXロゴと共に、Ref.1601には見られないオールドロレックスらしいダイヤルカラーです。ドルフィンハンドとクサビ型インデックスはフェイスに力強い印象を与えます。
搭載Cal.1065は世界初の両回転巻き上げ式の1030と同系統の機械で、天輪の重さを調整するミーンタイムスクリューを備えています。これにより、より精密な精度調整を行うことが可能です。
ダイアルはエイジングより若干のパティナが確認できます。ダイヤルカラーに変化は見られず、着用の際にはほとんど気にならないレベルのものです。インデックスは、ダイヤルと同様の経年変化が見られます。しっかりと光を反射し、ヤレた印象はありません。ケースはラグが脚長で、装着感が良いです。ベゼルは多少の傷が見られながらも、エッジを残しており好印象です。

The Ref.6605, the predecessor to the iconic Ref.1601, is a rare and valuable Datejust produced from the mid-1950s to around 1960. It marked the end of the Bubble Back era, introducing a revamped movement and design. The early fluted bezel with finely engraved notches adds a classic touch compared to later models. The dial, with a copper-like color, presents a powdery texture unique to this era. The floating ROLEX logo, along with the distinctive dial color not found in Ref.1601, embodies the vintage Rolex aesthetic. The dauphine hands and arrow-shaped indexes contribute to a powerful presence on the dial.
The Cal.1065 movement, part of the same lineage as the world's first bidirectional automatic winding Cal.1030, features a mean time screw to adjust the balance wheel's weight, allowing for precise accuracy adjustments.
The dial shows slight patina from aging, adding character without altering the dial color significantly. The indexes exhibit similar aging, reflecting light effectively without appearing overly worn.
